Traver Gruen-Kennedy

Traver Gruen-Kennedy is Chief Strategist and Vice President, Strategy at Citrix Systems, Inc., an S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 company. A global technology leader, he is ranked by NetworkWorld magazine (along with Michael Dell and Bill Gates) as one of the “25 Most Powerful People in Networking”. Earlier this year, he was recognized for his contribution to society and to the technology industry by being named a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum.

Traver is considered by many to be the “Father of the ASP industry”. He was elected and serves in his second term as the Chairman of the ASP Industry Consortium, an international advocacy group formed, by 650 leading technology companies in 25 countries, to champion and set worldwide standards for the ASP (application service provider) industry. Frequently quoted, he regularly appears in the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Investor’s Business Daily, Fortune magazine and in the televised global media such as Sky News, CNBC and CNN.

Gruen-Kennedy’s vision of the convergence of IT and telecommunications with a new global legal and audit infrastructure is becoming increasingly accepted around the world. Upon the 10th anniversary of the World Wide Web — at its birthplace at the CERN physics laboratory in Geneva — he presented his vision The Future of the Web. Traver initiated and is realizing this vision through the founding of the ASP Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center being created by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a division of the United Nations, in cooperation with the ASP Industry Consortium. In 2001, ASPs and e-commerce communities will be able to provide their customers with services through a single contract recognized in 175 countries. Traver’s leadership in this critical area of new economy enforcement will enable small and medium businesses everywhere to participate on an equal basis with global enterprises.

Prior to joining Citrix Mr. Gruen-Kennedy served as a consultant and industry analyst developing corporate strategies for technology suppliers Lucent Technologies, Sun Microsystems, Nortel, Teledesic and Xerox. Additionally, he developed IT strategies for enterprise clients L.L.Bean and Scott Paper Company. Earlier, he contributed to policy development and legislation with policy-makers including the ITU (International Telecommunications Union), the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), and the United States Senate.

Mr. Gruen-Kennedy is a graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. He received specialized training in early-stage technology venture management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Traver and his wife Penny reside in Boca Raton, Florida and Kennebunkport, Maine USA.
